JOB TITLE: Sr. Systems Engineer – Missile Defense

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Decisive Analytics Corporation, a WBB company, supports the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering (OUSD R&E). The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for providing sound technical judgement, engineering insights, expertise, and analysis of Missile Defense programs in support of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Director for Mission Integration.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to conduct deliberate and quick-turn analysis, and generate high-quality technical analysis, reports and presentations for senior DoD leadership to support various Congressional, GAO, OSD, and Service reports
  • Perform system engineering functions, such as planning and evaluation of systems engineering technical reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR), Independent Technical Risk Assessments, participation in Analysis of Alternatives studies and technical studies, Government Reference Architectures, technical performance measures, program requirements, software metrics, system engineering plans, Capability Development Documents, risk, and schedules for DoD acquisition programs
  • Evaluate system development risks and provide recommendations to senior DoD leadership on the readiness to enter/exit acquisition milestones in accordance with statutory and regulatory guidance
  • Prepare and present briefings to senior DoD leadership on the status and issues associated with assigned Missile Defense systems in preparation for decision meetings
  • Evaluate assigned Missile Defense program performance and provide objective insight into technical metrics, schedule, risks, engineering management, production, integration, and other engineering disciplines

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active DoD SECRET Clearance and eligible for a TS clearance
  • 4-year degree in an engineering field
  • Systems Engineer with minimum of fifteen (15) years of Department of Defense (DoD) experience in the Missile Defense domain in a program office or industry
  • Experience/ training in missile defense technologies in one or more of the following areas: ballistic missiles, guidance, algorithms, space environments, kill vehicles, command and control, radar, optical and/or infrared sensor systems, hypersonic and/or cruise missile systems
  • Thorough understanding of the Missile Defense Agency organization, processes, and acquisition lifecycle
  • Experience in systems engineering, programmatic, and/or acquisition in the Missile Defense portfolio
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, proven communication and superior writing skills: must have experience developing staff packages and briefings to senior-level officials; ability to synthesize information and produce concise, logical reports and briefings
  • Demonstrated expert proficiency in Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic, complex environment with little or no supervision.
  • Strong analytical and statistical capability

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in an engineering field
  • Eligible for TS SCI clearance
  • Pentagon or Service headquarters' staff experience
  • Defense industry experience
  • Expert technical knowledge of one or more of the following Missile Defense programs or functional areas: C2BMC, GMD, GFC, GBI, NGI, MoKV, MVK, SBI, SKA, Aegis BMD, Aegis Ashore, SM-3 Block 1B/IIA, THAAD, LRDR, SBX, AN/TPY-2, AN/SPY-6 AMDR, AIAMD, LTAMDS, directed energy, defense against hypersonic weapons, radar discrimination, targets, space sensor layer, and tracking/custody
  • Understanding of the technical and programmatic elements of DoD and MDA acquisition lifecycle, activities, timeline, best practices, policies, dependencies, and interrelationships associated with DoDI 5000.02 and MDA Instruction 5013.02-INS
  • Experience working in an acquisition program office (ACAT 1D preferred) or on Service/OSD staff overseeing acquisition programs
  • Experience or training in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
