JOB TITLE: Technical Writer - CNIC

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Provide program, administrative, integration, and analytical support to Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC N34) Force Protection program requirements, policy, doctrine and oversight processes, and management planning.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical writer support to CNIC N34 Force Protection Headquarters Program Director (HPD):

  • Develop, coordinate, edit, review, and prepare flag officer level correspondence for signature a variety of ashore Navy Security Force (NSF) policy for which CNIC is the primary review authority and doctrine relating to Antiterrorism, Physical Security and Law Enforcement. This task will include assistance with staffing and adjudication of comments as well as providing necessary revisions.
  • Provide review and analysis of current senior level policy, guidance and Directive Type Memorandums (DTMs) and recommend changes to ensure CNIC N34 remains compliant.
  • Write, edit, research, format and review products according to CNIC and DON policy.
  • Support N34 by developing and manipulating visual products (graphics, illustrations, briefing material) in an electronic format to complement and enhance the products.
  • Use desktop publishing hardware and software to layout graphics and text in publications.
  • Provide review and comparative analysis of current senior level policy, guidance and Directive Type Memorandums (DTMs) and recommend changes to ensure CNIC N34 remains compliant.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must obtain a High School Diploma
  • 5 years of experience in technical writing/technical editing
  • High proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Experience editing and formatting documents in accordance with the Navy Correspondence Manual
  • Experience with layout design and desktop publishing software (Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign)
  • Experience writing Navy policy and doctrine documents, instructions and publications

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelorís degree
  • Experience as a Navy flag writer, or technical editor on a Navy flag staff Experience on CNIC, Navy Region, or Installation staff

WORK LOCATION: Washington D.C.
