PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Secretary of Defense –Sustainment plays a key collaborative role with the Services and Program Managers in assisting with successfully fielding available, reliable and combat ready, weapons systems to U.S. Services and International Partners. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Product Support DASD (PS) is responsible for Life Cycle Support that optimizes affordability, materiel readiness that supports Joint war fighter requirements. The focus of this position is to influence the emphasis on long term product support of weapons systems while still early in the development stage

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing draft documents, briefings and other forms of communication material for providing OSD responses to policies and guidance including other direction from Congressional, GAO, IG, etc.

Understand and can review the following:

  • National Defense Act proposed legislations
  • Product Support statues and regulatory updates
  • Logistics Policy development, and updates
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000 Updates - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Instruction (CJCSI) 3170.01
  • Defense Acquisition Guide Updates - Life Cycle Sustainment Plan Guidance and Implementation
  • Special Project Product Support Policy development and implementation

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • Event Planning Leadership
  • Project Management
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Government Relations
  • Writing draft documents

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP Certification
