JOB TITLE: IT System Analyst (Part Time) - AFTAS


The individual will support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition Integration), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Washington, D.C. This 100-member acquisition staff organization is charged with planning, managing and analyzing the Air Force's $200 billion (FYDP) research and development, and acquisition investment budget. The position oversees the integration of full-life cycle acquisition equities into strategy, requirements, policy, processes, funding, program execution, information technology and workforce management. These activities enable the 25,000-member Air Force acquisition corps to deliver the vital capabilities necessary to accomplish the Air Forceís core missions.


Responsible for providing SME IT Business Analyst support of the customerís mission to include the following:

  • Provides subject matter expertise to support the SAF/AQXS IT portfolio management team in analyzing, developing, routing, and reviewing policies and procedures that significantly reduce the number of systems and/or applications in the portfolio. These policies and procedures shall incorporate all required considerations that could significantly impact the systems consolidation effort and propose new and leading-edge methods to realize consolidation
  • Supports IT enterprise application transformation support services that focus on the refinement of a SAF/AQ portfolio vision and goals and shall result in an updated strategy for systems to services transformation that increases operational efficiency and rapid delivery of capability while consolidating into key IT systems/capabilities to support transformation. Specific tasks shall include:
    • Supports the governance of the SAF/AQ portfolio to include organizational change management, communication strategies, and configuration management
    • Makes recommendations based on industry best-practice governance structures which drives down decision-making authority to the lowest appropriate level


Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Eleven (11) years of related acquisition experience
  • Experience with Business IT Systems sustainment, implementation, integration and process improvement
  • Knowledge of defense acquisition management processes as contained in the DoD 5000 series directives
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally
  • Clear understanding of the OSD and USAF Acquisition organization


  • Masterís Degree in related field
