JOB TITLE: Senior Subject Matter Expert III Ė 1st Marine Division G-3


Assist and advise the G-3 and Commanding General, 1st Marine Division (1st MARDIV), on matters pertaining to operations, including:

  • All aspects of Title 10/garrison force provision and force generation
  • Capability generation and force readiness
  • Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) training
  • Synchronizing the actions of the Division's subordinate units
  • Maintain operational planning tool capabilities to rapidly analyze tasks
  • Develop solutions for employment and deployment of the force
  • Conduct crisis management and crisis response


  • Provide recommendations through operational analysis of 1st MARDIVís capacity to provide forces
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance (by means of additional analysis and recommendations) in the management of force generation of 1st MARDIVís forces deploying as teams, formations, units, and/or MAGTFs
  • Develop recommendations regarding 1st MARDIVís alignment of Man-Train-Equip efforts
  • Support development of COMPLAN/OPLAN
  • Support development of Strategic and Long-Range Planning Assessment Report
  • Support Exercise After Action Reports (AARs), Lessons Learned, and Observations
  • Produce Exercise Support Executive Level Summaries
  • Provide other operational support as required


Security Clearance: Secret

  • US Citizenship
  • DOD Secret Clearance
  • Masters Degree [12 years of additional work experience, or Bachelors plus 8 years of additional work experience, may be substituted for Masters degree]
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Operational experience as a senior level subject matter expert for a large scale MAGTF training (MSC, JCS, and TSC exercises, and Global Force Management events)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite


Experience with the following:

  • Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES)
  • Experience with Global Command and Control System Marine Corps (GCCS-MC)
  • Command and Control Personal Computer (C2PC)
  • Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS)
  • Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS)
  • Automated Message Handling System (AMHS)
  • U.S. Marine Corps (or service equivalent) Command and Staff College graduate
