JOB TITLE: USMC Exercise Planner – Journeyman- MARFORPAC

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Provide technical support to MARFORPAC for all official joint, combined, and Service level exercises by supporting exercise design, planning, preparation and execution, and assessment.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop recommendations regarding the design of Joint and Service exercises in order to maximize the impact of the event in the training continuum of MARFORPAC and its subordinate commands in support of OPLAN based critical tasks
  • Provide recommendations in the development of exercise scenarios that enable the terminal training objectives to be achieved in the most unencumbered format to maximize the training value of the event
  • Support the development of the Master Scenario Events; specifically, develop MSELs that capture the roles of agencies/ offices at local, national or international levels IOT enhance the training opportunity for participating units. Assist with the integration of the MSELs into the MSEL synchronization tool for the event
  • Provide Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS) support
  • Support the multiple operational planning teams (OPT) and integrated planning teams (IPT) required to work through the myriad of issues in managing each exercise life cycle (ELC)
  • Provide technical assistance in the execution of joint and combined training and exercise events, interoperability workshops, tabletop exercises, and senior leader seminars
  • Assess exercise events through observation and develop recommendations for sustained future operations. Conduct evaluation of designated activities during joint and combined training and exercise events, interoperability workshops, tabletop exercises, and senior leader seminars
  • Arrange and facilitate After-Action Review (AAR) and lessons learned meetings to review event support and associated deliverables following the conclusion of each supported event

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Top Secret/ SCI

  • TS/SCI
  • Bachelor’s Degree [HS plus 6 years of additional experience or Associates Degree plus 4 years of additional experience may substitute for Bachelor’s degree
  • 4 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years experience in joint exercise planning and execution
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal/intercommunication skills
  • Staff officer experience

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the application of simulation to support the conduct of high-level exercises
  • U.S. Marine Corps (or service equivalent) Command and Staff College graduate

WORK LOCATION: Camp Smith, Hawaii

TRAVEL: 20%
