JOB TITLE: Communications Engineer Ė Global Hawk

PROJECT OVERVIEW:  

The Air Force Program Executive Officer for ISR & SOF (AFLCMC/WI) has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for equipping ISR & SOF warfighters to dominate the battlespace. In order to meet current and projected workload requirements in support of AFLCMC/WI, the Government must augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities within the Global Hawk Division (AFLCMC/WIG) with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support. 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the government in providing the program execution function to include but not limited to establishing development plans for conventional and specialized communication equipment and systems in the areas of Line of Sight, Satellite Communications and antenna requirements, data link requirements, address and Ground Station Communications requirements; Software Development/test production sustainment, information assurance, security certification and accreditation DoD/AF development; program management and technical meeting reviews and support, documentation development, Communication Global Hawk System support testing and qualification tests activities; the resolution of DR, PAR develop mitigation plans
  • Assist in overseeing and coordinating frequency allocation and spectrum management airborne radios, digital data links, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) and radio navigation aids with emphasis on the development of specialized airborne equipment
  • Review and analyze requirements and will review and evaluate system documentation including the resultant specifications and internal and external ICD 
  • Evaluate and recommend corrective actions for operational deployment lessons learned, deficiencies, and opportunities 
  • Review program documents/data in developing cost and schedule estimates of proposed projects, and conduct technical risk assessments 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Top Secret

  • Must possess a current and active Top Secret clearance Minimum of ten (10) yearsí experience in functional area.
  • Masterís degree in a field relevant to functional area.
    • Eight (8) years of additional work experience may be substituted for a Masterís degree; OR 
    • Four (4) years of additional work experience plus a Bachelorís degree may be substituted for a Masterís degree.  
  • At least five years of any Seniorís experience must have been performed on DoD programs/projects. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and skills in ground station design, development, integration with sensors and aircraft, communication architectures, commercial/military SATCOM, Global Positioning Satellite, ARC 210 radio, antenna systems and set-up; data architecture, video, voice, fiber optics, primary power, and secondary power systems, synchronous real time operating systems and applications, asynchronous database apps (client server), IP schema/protocols; including data, data collection types, dissemination types, and tactical/strategic data storage; and production is highly desirable 
  • Experience on Global Hawk or with other UAS platforms and ISR systems 
  • Air Force Program Office Experience
