JOB TITLE:  Public Affairs Specialist – F35 JPO

PROJECT OVERVIEW:  

This position is temporary

Project provides support to the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Joint Program Office (JPO) located in Crystal City (Arlington), VA. The JPO manages the development, test, production, fielding and sustainment of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter for the USAF, USMC, USN, and International Partner and FMS customer nations worldwide.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs critical program management, technical, or business analysis of major DoD acquisition systems and provides recommendations to ensure program success. Provides program analysis support for all aspects of the program. Participates as a member of and/or supports the overall Program and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Collects, completes, organizes and interprets technical data and financial information relating to aircraft acquisition and product programs. Tracks program/project status and schedules. Applies policies and procedures for financial planning.

This position focus on F-35 Strategic Communications Cell (SCC) process execution, in general, and response management toolset (RMx) output development, in particular. The incumbent will provide analysis of and process support for SCC processes, tools, and output and also will make recommendations for RMx inputs, content, and improvements that will be coordinated on behalf of the OCSO with the OCIO. This position will also support the improvement of data accuracy and quality of SCC output content through detailed analysis and collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), other SCC leadership, teammates, and affected stakeholders, internal and external to the JPO. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret clearance
  • MS or MA in a Science, Engineering or related Business Management degree. ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: A BS or BA degree and an additional four (4) years of experience can be substituted for an MS or MA degree.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in defense acquisition program management related to weapon systems acquisition and life cycle management.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience researching, developing, analyzing, staffing, and delivering official US Government documentation, including documentation used for public affairs, legislative affairs, Government policy compliance, defense acquisition, workforce management, and similar disciplines.
  • Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products to specifically include: Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, SharePoint, Adobe products, and Outlook (to include advanced formulations and reporting techniques).
  • Relevant experience in public affairs and/or strategic communications in a fast-paced, international, technically complex, and defense-related environment.

WORK LOCATION: Crystal City, VA 

TRAVEL: 5%
