JOB TITLE: Modernization Engineer- GPS

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Modernization Engineer will support the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Program Office (PNT PO) with modernization of a variety of existing GPS receivers / GPS related systems to meet existing DoD / civil mandates and DoD / national-level priorities:

  • Duties include planning, executing and advising†technical aspects of acquisition programs; organizing, training and supervising a technical support staff
  • Will work with senior government personnel on a regular basis and will frequently be called on to provide technical briefings and lead large meetings
  • Will also serve as a senior technical advisor to government personnel
  • This position will be assigned within government offices at Wright Patterson AFB, OH

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing technical acquisition management support services to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of GPS related efforts in support of the customerís mission. Additional responsibilities include some or all of the following:

  • Develop and review of requirements, program strategies, statements of work and acquisition plans
  • Provide engineering trade studies and technical analysis
  • Evaluate the development and integration of modernized GPS systems onto DoD platforms
  • Review and recommend courses of action to satisfy civil and military mandates associated with Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing requirements
  • Assist with proposal efforts including review and analysis

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelorís Degree in Engineering required
  • Fifteen (15) years related program office acquisition experience, Five (5) of which will have been in a leadership position required
  • Experience as a Technical IPT lead in a Program Office
  • Participated in development, coordination, and execution of major program milestones (preferably ACAT I but ACAT II/III acceptable)
  • Extensive experience with defense acquisition management processes as contained in the DoD 5000 series directives
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally
  • Clear understanding of the OSD and USAF Acquisition organization†

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligibility for TS clearance
  • Masterís Degree
  • 20 years related acquisition experience
  • Former SPO/Division Chief Engineer
  • Level III DAWIA Certification (SPRDE)
  • 2- 3 tours at AFLCMC (or predecessor)/or SMC Product Centers, or similar US Army/US Navy Product Centers, assigned to major weapon system Program Offices
  • Experience with GPS systems, weapons, and aircraft integration
  • Electronics/ software related acquisition experience
